A Quick Personal Story
As many of you know, I hail from Tennessee. In October, the town of Jonesborough hosts the National Storytelling Festival. When I lived in the States, it was something I looked forward to every year. Autumn is my favorite season, and the storytelling festival is the perfect place to experience it. Colors on the trees, the smell of hay bales and fallen leaves, the charming shops of a historic town, B&Bs on the main street, saturated blue skies, horse-drawn carts, local arts and crafts, and five giant tents for storytellers from all over the world to perform in.
The last time I was there, I attended a ghost story night. I got to lay on the grass of the town park, between a little stream and a railroad track, both of which disappear into the dark and somber woods, and listen to wonderful ghost stories delivered from the gazebo. The stories were fantastic. It is one of my favorite Halloween experiences, and I drew on that feeling when writing Chadwick Yates 5.
Something about the edge of dark woods has always fascinated me. Standing there, able to see in but not far enough, being in a small town with few people about, surrounded by mountains and forests and cold streams.
There is something so cozy, yet so wonderfully mysterious about the Halloween season. It makes me want to read and write novels about what lurks just over the fence at the back of the field, just deep enough to stay hidden in the quiet woods.
Chadwick Yates 5 brings you dark rituals, dangerous gaslit streets, unsettling oil paintings, eerie porcelain dolls, and a leaning, abandoned barn.
Grab it during the promo or it will be $2.99 to buy, and please check ou the books of the other authors who helped put this together. And as always, please support me by leaving a review on Amazon.com or Goodreads.com. Happy Halloween, and thank you so much for your support. #instaFreebie #halloween #halloweeninstafreebie

Illustrations LIVE on ChadwickYates.com
Check out all of the beautiful Chadwick Yates illustrations by artist Eva Kedves. You won’t be able to see them large and clear in ebook format, but they’re in full size at:
So chadwickyates.com is done. Feel free to look around. It’s your field guide to the world of Cavendia, Tanzia, and Sutherbury.
ChadwickYates.com Under Construction
Well, now that BradleyVerdell.com is up and running, I just wanted to let everyone know that ChadwickYates.com is being renovated. It will turn into a simple field guide to the world of Chadwick Yates, covering topics like Races, Monsters, Equipment, Majik, and so forth. I want it to serve as a companion to the books, complete with all illustrations.
It is hard for images to really shine in the ebook format. Some readers might be using the Kindle App for iPad, while others are reading on a Kindle Oasis. Eva’s work is too beautiful to scrunch down to an ebook reader’s screen size, so I’ll put everything there so readers can see it in full color and large dimensions. As the series continues, I’ll update it with new illustrations.
I’ll also add new world information as new books are released, so ChadwickYates.com will serve as a quick reference to an ever-increasing number of cultures, weapons, environments, etc.
This site you’re reading now, BradleyVerdell.com will be about more than just the Chadwick Yates Series. I’ve got many projects going now, and right here is where I’ll write about my research and inspirations, plus update readers about what’s coming out next. I’m excited to share more books I recommend here as well. If you like Chadwick Yates, check the Recommendations page to see similar works I’m sure you’ll like.
Thanks for reading, and please sign up to my mailing list for FREE books and updates.
